I Don’t Have a Title Just a Narrative

Well this is my first stab at a blog writeup. I know it will be full of mistakes within but all things perfect are bland right?

Well here goes………

I started creating this program playing with the different variations of it back in 2016. That is when I became quite interested in skilling using mentoring approach. The usual culprit by my side Ahmed Maawy hehehe. we embarked on something rather experimental but satisfying which we called code Challenge. Through this program we graduated 15 youth in software development skills at various stages in their lives mainly most of them at university. From which all have managed to get either on the employment ladder or entrepreneurship ladder successfully. It was stressful, crazy but enjoyable who says the best things in life are easy… This experiment done thing went into sort of a Lul for a while (this does not mean workshops stopped happening, events were never hosted etc) Just that we had no proper program to work with as at that.

Then came 2018 where we took a stab at creating a skills development course in python with a highly subsidised fee. This was however not very well received and me with my partners at that time two of my mentees decided to part amicably.

In 2019 I started something else this time i decided to tinker with Mentoring teaching so how or what the hell is this all about? Well relax I am about to explain.

Well knowledge is readily available off the internet these days when it pertains to software development and problem solving. How you disseminate this knowledge and use what you need to become a software developer now thats where it gets hard. What did I do??

I decided to Mentor/Coach and guide some young energetic individuals towards their goals of achieving self reliance by developing skills that are in demand out there in the technology world thus making them employable in many cases even without a degree certificate. I took a free online program after much research and made it the basis of my program. I took on young individuals no matter their study level so long as they could read and understand english and had an insatiable thirst to learn and a resilient attitude towards overcoming obstacles no matter how tough. Thus i ended up with a mix of youth some pursuing their degrees some finished High school but could not continue some still in High school.

It has been a difficult journey to say the least I needed to find ways to fund this program since the kids i took on could not pay for this. Thus I started tinkering with consultancy. Well this is a story for another day though. All you need to know is that consultancy has allowed me to keep the lights on. during 2019.

2020 was a game changer for me I brought in Ahmed Maawy and we decided to embark on registering a consultancy company which we named AAA Platforms. This would allow for us to look for those big software development contracts that would enable us to keep running this skilling program that has so far helped in excess of 50 people of the past 1 and a half years. And yes thats a small number due to the highly involving nature of the program and its difficulty alot of the youth shied away from it due to that. But those that have joined in so far have been taking on really well.

The main reason for my doing this program has been to allow young guys and girls out there that would like to pursue a career in software development but do not have the tools or money to access colleges and universities to pursue their interest etc to have a chance at it.

This story is still continuing we are not done yet Expect more to come….
